I don't come from a family of artists, but we had a great many albums with illustrations by famous artists. I secretly dreamed of mastering the language of painting. Unfortunately, my parents couldn't send me to art school. Half my life was spent studying the exact sciences. It was only a few years ago that I decided to immerse myself in the world of art. This happened after visiting an art gallery in Toronto and meeting the artists. At first, there was curiosity: am I capable of creating something?
I got my start at the Will Kemp School of Art. “Let’s have some cookies and start painting,” Will would say enthusiastically before each new lesson. After some initial online learning, there were several sessions with talented teachers and courses at the Montreal Academy of Fine Arts. I’m still searching for my own style and continue to take art classes. Oil is my preferred medium, although I plan to try different mediums like watercolor.
I can say that it is never too late to learn and that we must always pursue our dreams.
