Huguette Gabriel
Originally from Egypt, Huguette Gabrial first emigrated to Cyprus, then to France and, after visiting Montreal for the 1976 Olympic Games, she decided to settle in Canada.
About fifteen years ago, she opened her home office and, wanting to take advantage of the freedom her work schedule afforded her and driven by her lifelong interest in art, she enrolled in various courses and workshops offered by local artists. She began under the tutelage of Shirley Katz and other artists at the Saidye Bronfman Centre, then continued under the guidance of the late Helmut Gerth at the Pointe-Claire Cultural Centre. Most recently, she has been taking classes with Norma Walker.
Her interests have evolved since then: from still lifes in pastel and drawing with a live model, she has moved on to a medium she particularly likes, watercolor, with still lifes and landscapes as her favorite subjects.
