Lisa Kimberly Glickman

Lisa Kimberly Glickman is a Montreal native and contemporary figure and landscape painter. She has been making marks since she could hold an instrument. Glickman received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1981 and a Diploma in Education in 1995, followed by a Master of Education in 1998 from McGill University. Her work is held in private collections in the United States and Canada. She exhibits her work professionally and has taught art for many years in schools in the Montreal area.

In addition to human figures, his work frequently depicts animals – the other great love of his life. But whatever the subject, the main characteristic of his work is the richness of its layers of color. The artist believes that color should speak, seem to move, and have a life of its own, independent of the subject depicted, while still being connected to it.

She is particularly drawn to the effect of light on colors and strives to capture a sense of shadow and light, a feeling of the time of day or season, and to evoke the atmosphere that colors can create. She loves the subtleties and nuances she can achieve with brushstrokes and drops of paint. She generally works from a combination of life experiences, memories, and photographs she has taken herself.
