My initial response to an interesting subject  is the light and mood associated with it. The inspiration for many of my paintings is taken from photographs I have taken from my travels abroad and near home. I always enjoyed art classes in high school but at university chose to pursue a carrer in physics. Now recently retired after 45 years of teaching physics, I have time to enjoy painting and life drawing.

I owe my renewed interest in art to Ross Patterson, my instrutor for an oil painting workshop, while on sabbatical in Australia several years ago. He rekindled my desire to paint.
